Ultrasonic tooth cleaning

What suggests that tooth cleaning is needed?

  • This discolouring on the front surface of the tooth
  • Ugly, thick discolouring around the tooth neck, especially on the surface towards the tongue
  • Gum bleeding when tooth brushing, chewing or by itself
  • Unpleasant breath
  • Loosened teeth

Steps of the treatment

During tooth cleaning, the dentist or dental hygiene assistant removes the calculus with an ultrasound device, and polishes the surfaces shiny and smooth. Smooth tooth surface is e basis of the elimination of gum inflammation. With the help of the ultrasound, the calculus gently explodes off the surface of the teeth, without damaging the enamel.

The first step of all dental treatments is to eliminate a possible parodontal inflammation. Correct dental work (be it filling or implantation) can only be done if the gum is healthy and free of inflammation.

Prevention is key

We recommend professional tooth cleaning to al our patients at least once every half a year, in order to prevent diseases stemming from gum inflammation and parodontal diseases.

With permanent control, the health of the gum and teeth can be sustained! In case of severe gum decay, further decay can be delayed.

In case of severe gum inflammation or parodontal decay – supplementary treatments

In a more severe case, gum pockets that may have developed need to be cleaned (curetting), and the medical treatment of the eliminated gum inflammation is also part of the treatment.

Treatment of gum pocket with curette:

  • Parodontal decay makes the teeth weaker, and around is sides, a little pocket may develop under the gum. The pocket, like a real one, keeps deposits and bacteria, and provides the nucleus for inflammation.
  • With the help of the curette, the bacteria and inflamed tissues in the pocket can be removed, thus we can help the reconstruction of the parodontium.

Treatment o gingival necrosis with laser

  • In another severe case, curette itself ifs not enough, but the more thorough cleaning of the pocket is necessary to eliminate all bacteria. Laser penetrates deep into the bone and starts its regeneration.
