Root canal treatment with laser

How does laser work in the root canal?
We use the laser beam as a supplement to traditional root canal treatment procedure, mostly for the maximal sterilization of the root canal.
During root canal treatment, bacteria may remain after mechanical cleaning. The remaining bacteria cause the tip of the root to be inflamed or develop a cist – therefore, root canal treatment can be ineffective.
Bacteria are completely eliminated with laser treatment, and it also closes the dentines, so that infection cannot develop later. Another important benefit is that due to its biostimulative effect, it initiates the multiplication of bone cells. Thus we can achieve the healing of a cist around a formerly decayed tooth, without surgery.
On the procedure of the treatment:
Laser treatment is applicable after the opening of the root canal. The thin laser thread is lead in to the end of the canal and kept there for a few seconds, while it radiates in the canal system.
The treatment is painless, and happens in anaesthesis.
In a simpler case, one treatment can be enough before closing the root canal, in severe cases, maybe involving root tip rarefaction, several (2-3) treatments are necessary.
