What is the difference between the panorama X-ray and the 3 dimensional CATscan?

The panorama X-ray:

2 dimensional, that is the doctor sees the patient's 3 dimensional skull and bon structure in 2 dimensions
It is perfect for all dental treatments (planning tooth implants, general dental surgeries, etc.) and for the by and large planning of the implantology
However, it is not adequate to meticulously plan the implantology procedure, since the third dimension, which provides information on the thickness of the bones, is invisible on it

3D X-ray with Cone Beam technology:

3 dimensional, all planes, bone depth, and bone width can be determined on the basis of it
This is unnecessary for the general dental surgery operations, too detailed
However, it is crucial for the exact planning of the implantology surgery!
- The doctor measures the exact distance between respective, important anatomical parts (for example, maxillary sinus, facial nerve, etc.) and the bone surface.
- He can examine the route of the facial nerve and the mucous membrane of the maxillary sinus exactly. He can examine the bone structure also: which bone surface is adequate for bone extraction, which can be used to replace bone in other areas.
- He conducts exact measurements, determines the form, size and length of the implants, so that the assistant can prepare the necessary materials, tools and implants for the surgery in advance.
Due to the Cone Beam technology, the scan is scaled, it does not show deformed or wrong data and it comes with much less radiation compared with traditional CATscans! You do not have to wait months for it, it can e done immediately.

It is important to know that the CATscan made with this program has great data content, therefore it cannot be simply sent via email. Please send the CATscan to us in person or via mail.
Unfortunately, CATscan made by other programs (like DICOM) cannot be read n our clinic. The planning is also not helped by traditional CATscans, since we cannot conduct the necessary measurements on them, plus the patient undergoes considerable radiation, as opposed to the Cone Beam technology that we recommend.
