Traditional materials—modern shoulder tooth preparation

With the development of dental tools, the craftsmanship of teeth has become much more perfect. Precise and meticulous appliances were made, therefore now it is possible to deliver more delicate contours and shapes.
Impression techniques and materials have also undergone tremendous evolution. With the new materials we can prepare much more precise accurate impressions.
Naturally, the background dental technique takes its part in the process of innovation, too. Metal frames and crowns are made under a microscope today, the materials used are delicate, easily craftable, and we can make excellent and lifelike prostheses out of them.
At BudapestDental Clinic, we apply excellent technical background suited to the possibilities above, regarding both dental and technical work. When preparing the crowns, our dentists use shoulder crown preparation technique.

Shoulder prepared metal ceramic crowns provide a full protection of the periodontium. With the help of this modern technology, the appearance of grey gum margin can be avoided. It is prepared under a microscope, with maximal therefore the chance of gum inflammation or secondary decay is minimal. The margin of the crown sits on the shoulder, so there is no crown margin standing out. The metal frame only extends to the inner part of the shoulder, so it is not visible form the outside, and the appearance of the grey metal stripe can also be avoided.
The chart below sums up the attributes of shouldered and traditional crowns:
| traditional crown preparation technique | shouldered crown preparation technique |
